The fixed income desk

Direct bonds, held in your name, built for income

Corporate bonds used to be the preserve of institutions, traded in parcels of $500,000 or more. Through our fixed income partner, WE Private clients can build portfolios of individual bonds in much smaller parcels, with the income paid straight to them.

Why direct bonds

Curated, transparent, and yours

Dedicated expertise

Our partner’s fixed income team focuses only on bonds. You get access to opportunities that aim to combine total return, capital stability and regular income, while you remain the direct owner.

Regular income

Bonds pay interest, called coupons, on a set schedule. You can have them paid to a nominated bank account or reinvested automatically.

Real diversification

With parcels from $10,000, a $500,000 allocation could be spread across as many as 50 different bonds, by issuer, industry and maturity date.

Direct ownership

The bonds are held in your name, not as units in a pooled fund. You know exactly what you own and when each one matures.

Who it suits

Where bonds earn their place

  • Retirees and SMSFs in pension phase who need dependable cashflow to fund payments
  • Business owners parking sale proceeds while a longer-term plan is put in place
  • Trusts and foundations that need predictable income for distributions or grants
  • Anyone whose portfolio leans too heavily on shares or property

Some corporate bonds are only offered to wholesale investors. Others are available to retail investors through exchange-traded structures. We’ll show you which options apply to you.

Bonds aren’t risk-free

A bond is a loan to a company or government. If the issuer gets into trouble, you can lose some or all of your capital. Prices move with interest rates, so selling before maturity can mean a gain or a loss. Some bonds are harder to sell quickly than shares. We explain these risks for every holding we recommend.
