Moving to Australia
Built elsewhere. Building here.
You’ve chosen Australia for the life. We make sure your wealth makes the move as well as your family does. The decisions you make in the months before and after you arrive can be worth more than anything you do in the ten years that follow.
Who we help
Every move is different. The money questions are surprisingly similar.
Executives on assignment
Sponsored by an employer, often on a temporary visa at first. Equity plans, foreign pensions and a home country still pulling at your finances.
Founders and investors
Arriving through the National Innovation Visa or another talent pathway, with companies, holdings or trusts that were set up for a different tax system.
Families joining family
Partners and parents moving to be close to children and grandchildren, bringing a lifetime of savings with them.
Australians coming home
Years abroad, assets in two or three countries, and a tax position that changes the day you land.
Your first year
The relocation timeline we work through with you
Before you move
Map your assets in every country. Value them for your Australian cost base. Review offshore companies and trusts with an Australian tax adviser. Decide what to sell before you become resident.
Arrival to six months
Confirm your tax residency and temporary resident status. Open the right accounts. Decide on foreign pension transfers inside the six-month window. Rent or buy within the foreign investment rules.
The first year
Build an Australian investment portfolio and structure around your goals. Set up super contributions, insurance, wills and powers of attorney that work here.
Before permanent residency
Plan for the day temporary resident concessions end, because your foreign income and gains may become taxable from then.
Worth knowing
There’s no longer an investor visa
The Significant Investor Visa and the rest of the Business Innovation and Investment Program closed to new applications on 31 July 2024. Money alone no longer buys residency, so investments should be chosen for your family, not for a visa.
Our role
We work alongside your migration agent
We don’t give visa advice. That’s the job of a registered migration agent or immigration lawyer. We hold the financial picture: sequence, deadlines, structures and investments, coordinating your accountants here and overseas.
